I agree...this is what I have and all I need. If you buy used (recommended) get the manual! Then mail me a copy. Pain in the butt to figure out w/o and the website isn't good unless you want to download a zillion pages. If you're a R.Walker, you probably won't have problems, I however hate programming stuff.

I?m searching for a more professional solution (for live situations) as well. I?ve been using the Tama Rythm Watch for a while. Good device but too less functions.

Any more suggestions ?

I have a Roland DR 770 - supposedly a top of the line drum machine. But I don't think is has the capability to program
odd time signatures that change frequently - like 7/8 to 4/4 to 11/16 - while maintaining some flexibility with the tempos.
One really only has control over the basic number of beats - that is, the numerator but not the denominator, if you view
the time signature like a fraction.
I tried to program 7/8 to 4/4 by using 7 for the 7/8 part and then 8 beats for the 4/4. But the tempo stops at 260 bmp,
so I couldn't get the patterns up to tempo. (I was limited by the 7/8 section.) The 4/4 section maxed out at 130.
I imagine this is not a new problem. Any ideas?

I just got the Zoom rhymtrak 123 drum machine and it is fairly easy to use, you can combine many patterns to make a 'song' and that. i got round the odd time sig thing by programming the within the even time signatures. like fitting 7/8 or 11/16 within 4/4, like Virg's layered groove theory. that has its limitations aswell though for what you might want though, because you have to wait for the odd time to resolve back to beat 1 or wherever before you change to something else.
